Impregnated wood means green salt-impregnated and brown creosote-impregnated wood.
Wood waste by private households can be brought to timber trades and waste handling facilities without any charges. Wood is collected in green recycling container according to following instructions:
- Only IMPREGNATED WOOD (salt or creosote) is accepted - Big metal parts have to be removed - Leaving other waste is forbidden - With regard to security issues, taking wood out of container is forbidden
Big amounts of wood waste should be transported direct to the waste handling facilities or Kestopuu recycling terminal.
Wood waste by industrial users, for example bridge and fence constructions, ski jumps and harbour constructions, must be transported direct to the waste handling facilities. Recycling of railway sleepers is taken care of by Finnish Rail Administration. The terms of industrial returning are:
- Only IMPREGNATED WOOD (salt or creosote) is accepted - Big metal of plastic parts have to be removed - Wood material must not contain soil - Waste handling fees will be collected
